A second harmonisation workshop has been held in Barcelona. The workshop was focused on the update of the status of the harmonisation process, checking the list of core variables to be harmonised. Potential core variables to be added or placed to a second priority in the harmonisation process were also discussed. The event was organised by Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (PSSJD), and attended by Prof. Josep Maria Haro (PSSJD, coordinator of the project) and researchers from different institutions participating in ATHLOS.
The creation of a harmonised data set is one of the main aims of the EU-funded ATHLOS project, merging large sets of variables from longitudinal databases derived from several European and international studies. A meeting was held on 12th of January 2017 in the Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu (Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona) in order to check the status of the harmonisation process and to discuss potential issues found by the partners during this process. The previous workshop on harmonisation was held on May 2016, and during the elapsed time the researchers involved in ATHLOS have been working on identifying the potential variables to be harmonised across the different studies and waves.
The meeting was organised by the coordinator and leader of the Work-Package 1 (WP1) “Creation of a harmonised data set”. Deadlines for the pending tasks of WP1 were established throughout 2017. A final decision about the list of variables to be included in the ATHLOS harmonised data set was taken during the workshop, discussing potential changes on the content and format of some harmonised variables. The event was attended by researchers from different institutions involved in ATHLOS. The discussion during the workshop also included a list of a potential variables to be harmonised in a second stage of the harmonisation process.
